Find Books, Audio & More

Find Books, Audio & More – In Your Library or Another Library

Find a book at your library.

Use the library’s online catalog, to locate books, videos, or other materials owned by the Linebaugh Public Library System. You will find a variety of search options, from the simple, keyword search to the more complex fielded searches. Note: Your default PIN is the last six digits of the barcode on your library card.

Find an ebook or digital audiobook.

Use R.E.A.D.S. (Regional eBook & Audiobook Download System) to find downloadable audio books and electronic books, including popular fiction, consumer nonfiction, language instruction, and books for children and teens. The eBooks are available in PDF format; audio books are available in Windows Media format. The digital books are compatible with many desktop computers, laptops, smart phones, e-readers, WMA/MP3 players, Apple devices (iPad, iPods, iPhone), and tablet PCs. Once downloaded, many audio books can be burned to CD and used in car stereos or regular CD players. Books check out for 2 weeks; after 2 weeks, the books are automatically returned — no late fees ever! You may check out a maximum of 10 titles at a time. Like normal library books, you can place a hold on any unavailable title and receive an email notification when the book is ready for you to check out. To access this collection, visit the R.E.A.D.S. website:
•    On your first visit, you will need to download free software from the website, in order to listen to the digital audio books.
•    To sign in, select the Highland Rim Region.
•    Then select your library branch (Eagleville, Linebaugh, MGL, or Smyrna) and enter your library card number.

Find digital children’s books.

Bookflix lets your child watch animated storybooks, read books online, play educational games, and more. For grades PreK-3. You will need to enter your library card number to use this service.

Interactive Books offers nonfiction and fiction books with narration, and incorporates video, sound effects, and motion graphics for enhanced learning. Enter your library name (linebaughlibrary, smyrna, myrtleglanton, or eagleville) and the password library to use this service.

Find reading suggestions.

You can also find reading suggestions through the Tennessee Electronic Library. Books & Authors combines more than 140,000 titles, 50,000 authors, and thousands of read-alike, award winner, and librarian’s favorites lists to help bring readers and literature together.

Find an online book club.

Join one of the Online Book Clubs, and you’ll receive a five-minute selection from a chapter of a book each day. By the end of the week, you’ll have read 2-3 chapters. The book clubs give you a chance to sample a book before you check it out from the library. No matter what your reading interest, there’s a book club for you! The Online Book Clubs are sponsored by the Friends of Linebaugh Library.

Find a book in another library.

Use the Tennessee Public Library Catalog, to search the catalogs of most public libraries in the state of Tennessee. This useful tool can tell you which libraries in the state own a title that you seek. You may also use AGent to learn which libraries subscribe to a particular newspaper or periodical.

Worldcat

Use WorldCat to search for materials in thousands of public, university, and other libraries. You can search for books, music, and videos, to see what libraries near you own them. You can also find research articles and digital books that can be directly viewed or downloaded.

If you’re looking for a book that LPLS does not own, you can request to borrow it for free from another library via Interlibrary Loan. Please search the library catalog before placing an Interlibrary Loan request to be certain we do not already own the book. Complete our Interlibrary Loan Form and return to Linebaugh Library (Reference Desk, 2nd floor) or Smyrna Library. Forms may be sent via email to Linebaugh Library or Smyrna Library, except for first-time ILL users.
