I-Pad Users Group

1st and 2nd Friday of each month

Join this great new group of I-Pad owners to learn how to get the most out of your device! The next meetings are Friday, August 1 and 8, at 1 p.m. This meeting is free and open to the public in the Linebaugh Board Room on the 2nd floor.

Literacy Day

Saturday, August 2, 9 a.m. - noon

Come and support literacy by marching from Central Magnet School to the Civic Plaza at 9:00 a.m. Then enjoy games, food and fun on the Civic Plaza from 10 a.m. til noon. There will be great giveaways and fun for everyone! Sponsored by Linebaugh Public Library, Murfreesboro Medical Center, Olive Branch Church, Friends of Linebaugh and Read to Succeed.

Rutherford Writers Ink

1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month

All writers looking for help and insights into writing are invited to join.

The next meetings are Saturday, August 2, at 10 a.m. and Saturday, August 16, at 10 a.m. They meet in the 2nd floor Board Room.

Local Author Book Signing – R.D. Sherrill

Wednesday, August 6, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

R. D. Sherrill will be selling and signing copies of his books, Red Dog Saloon and Average Joe from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6. The books will be $10-$15. Cash and checks accepted.

Afternoon Book Club

Thursday, August 7, 1 p.m.

Join the Afternoon Book Club in discussing One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus. This group meets in the Linebaugh Story Room on the first floor.

Cozy Mystery Book Club

Bring your favorite cozy mystery to discuss and join this new book group for a great time together.

French Conversation Class

Tuesday, August 12,  7 p.m.

French Native, Alan Courcoux, facilitates our French Conversation group on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Linebaugh Board Room. Anyone who wants to improve or practice their French is invited to join. There will be discussion on Les photos de vacances. This meeting is free and open to the public.

Murfreesboro Writers Group

Wednesday, August 13 and 27, 6 – 8 p.m.

The Murfreesboro Writers Group meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. in the library Board Room. The Murfreesboro Writers Group is an open group, available to all writers, regardless of experience, publication history, or genre.

Self-Defense Presentation

Thursday, August 14, 7 p.m.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Amy Norville will provide a presentation on the importance of self-defense and some basic techniques to use in dangerous situations. This event is free and open to the public in the 2nd floor Reading Room.

The Tuesday Book Club will meet on Tuesday, August 19, at 7 p.m. to discuss This Book will Save your Life by A.M. Homes.

The Lit Wits Book Club

The Lit Wits Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, August 21, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg.

MTSU Convocation Speaker, Jay Allison

Sunday, August 24, 3:30 p.m.

Jay Allison, author of This I Believe, will be speaking in the Linebaugh Public Library Reading Room on the 2nd floor. Registration is required at the Linebaugh Circulation Desk. Cost is $10.

Genealogy Group

Thursday, August 28, 1 p.m.

If you are interested in tracing your family roots or need tips on conducting your own genealogy research, join our genealogy group that meets in the Historical Research Room on the 2nd floor. 

Social Security Explained

Thursday, August 28, 6 p.m.

This class, presented by a representative of The Society for Financial Awareness (SOFA) will explain the importance of when to start taking your Social Security benefits, taxation on Social Security, and other often asked questions. This class is free and open to the public in the Linebaugh Learning Center on the 2nd floor.
