Youth Services Assistant/Clerk - MGL - Part Time (8-10 hrs/wk)
MGL Public Library seeks a part-time Youth Services Assistant/Library Associate. This position assists the Branch Supervisor in the performance of duties related to the Children and Young Adult programs and assists at the Circulation Desk. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting in planning, scheduling, advertising, and delivering public story hours, summer reading programs, and other activities; assisting in planning, preparing, and conducting programs for visiting groups; assisting teachers and schools in scheduling library visits; assisting in planning and scheduling library tours; assisting in identifying and recommending needed books and materials; operating automation system used by Linebaugh Public Library System; providing information to patrons regarding library programs and services; performing readers advisory services; and assisting patrons and instructing them in the use of library automation systems and resources. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with the public, completion of library workshop courses or college courses, prior library or teaching experience, and prior employment working with children, pre-teens, and teens preferred.

Linebaugh Public Library System welcomes volunteers for each of its branches. You must be age 16 or older. Volunteers are needed to assist with: shelf reading, straightening books, phone calls, data entry, searching for books, filing, grant writing, assisting with programs, and other tasks. Volunteers should complete a volunteer application and return it to the Circulation Desk at your branch library. Volunteer orientations are held at 4 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Linebaugh.
